An independent research group, led by Professor Eamonn Delahunt, designed and conducted a double-blind cross-over pilot trial to evaluate the efficacy of Qilta Sport® to enhance athletes’ self-reported recovery from fatiguing exercise.
On two separate occasions separated by a minimum of 1-week, participants performed an inclined treadmill run to exhaustion followed immediately by 90 calf raises. Upon completing this protocol participants were required to wear Qilta Sport® socks and calf sleeves for the next 10 hours. The control condition consisted of wearing Qilta Sport® socks and calf sleeves, but without being spray treated with endurance formula. The intervention condition consisted of wearing Qilta Sport® socks and calf sleeves spray treated with endurance formula.

At all-time points (12 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours, 48 hours) following completion of the fatiguing exercise protocol, the intervention condition, on average, recorded a higher GRoC scale score, indicating a more beneficial effect on participants’ self-reported recovery compared to the control condition. At all-time points following completion of the fatiguing exercise protocol, the intervention condition, on average, recorded a lower NPRS score, indicating a more beneficial reduction in post-exercise pain compared to the control condition
